Join in celebrating the history of New York’s 3rd Congressional District!
On Saturday, July 29th, Congressman Tom Suozzi will host an open house at his historic district office in Huntington. Constituents are invited to attend and meet with the Congressman, staff and explore exhibits and presentations from historical societies across the district. Refreshments will also be provided.
The district office is located at Sunny Pond Farm, which is on the property of former Congressman Silas Wood, who represented Long Island in the early nineteenth century (1818-1828). Two historic homes on the property, dating back to the American Revolution, were preserved and converted into office space.
Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, the home of Theodore Roosevelt, will have information and activities about our 26th President of the United States.
Raynham Hall, home to the Townsend Family, one of Oyster Bay’s oldest families, will have educational activities for children. Robert Townsend was part of the George Washington’s famous spy ring that helped defeat the British during the American Revolution.
Other museums and historical societies will also be participating.
When: Saturday, July 29th, 12:00pm-2:00pm
Where: 478A Park Avenue, Huntington, NY, 11743
